An Unexpected Surprise!

We were absolutely thrilled to see how many of our fellow Wyomingites performed and celebrated acts of kindness throughout the #LoveYourNeighborChallenge last month. It’s nothing short of inspiring to see the ways in which people gave time and effort to help out another in their community. This kindness absolutely fills our hearts!

And so, it is with full hearts and excitement that we’d like to let you in on a little surprise. Or rather, a big surprise! Instead of selecting a single winner to receive $1000 for their selected nonprofit organization, the Hughes Charitable Foundation will be rewarding each nominated organization with $1000! (Yes, you read that right. Just for participating in this inaugural #LoveYourNeighborChallenge, we’re rewarding the effort.)

This creative artistic team assembled 45 Valentines’ Day cards for residents of a nearby nursing home! Knowing that these elderly folks weren’t able to have visitors because of pandemic restrictions inspired them to bring some love and brightness to them in a different way. Beautiful work!
This furry community member was celebrated for all of his hard work in his riparian neighborhood! On behalf of Wyoming Untrapped, this submission creatively highlighted the impressive ways that beavers help wetlands and their inhabitants flourish. Great ‘dam’ work, friend!
Barney is working hard with his puppy raisers, Jim and Sue, so he can have a lengthy and successful career as a service dog! They’re showing him lots of love and helping him learn the basics now, setting him up for all kinds of success in his future work. Two paws up from us!
