A Christmas Letter from the Board & Staff of Hughes Charitable Foundation

As we close out 2025, and celebrate five years since becoming a Wyoming foundation, we do so with deep gratitude. This year, our team shared more than thirty stories on our blog, each one highlighting the people and partnerships that make Wyoming a place where love takes shape through action.
Our guiding theme for this milestone year has been Jesus’ words in Luke 10:37: “Go and do likewise.” This simple instruction from the Good Samaritan story is more than inspiration, it’s a call to step toward our neighbors with compassion, generosity, and presence. Across Wyoming, we see this lived out every day.
One story that continues to move us comes from our partners at Pilot Hill. A husband shared that while his wife receives cancer treatments nearby, he walks “Janey’s Trail” to steady his heart so he can return to her with peace and positivity. On her stronger days, they walk together, noticing new grasses and wildflowers. It’s a quiet reminder that even simple acts like breathing fresh air, holding a hand, showing up can become love in action.
Since our first Wyoming grants in 2017, and through our incorporation in 2020, we have supported more than 300 organizations working to meet essential needs. These partners serve families in the “impact zone” - those living one accident, job loss, or illness away from crisis. Whether providing food, shelter, safety, mental health support, youth programs, or community belonging, they embody Galatians 5:13: “Through love serve one another.”
As we look toward 2026, we invite you to consider how you can take action in your own community:
- Volunteer your time or skills.
- Support a local nonprofit serving those in need.
- Offer compassion to someone going through a difficult season.
- Look for small, everyday ways to love your neighbor.
Each act, small or large, strengthens the fabric of our state. To our partners, volunteers, donors, and fellow community members: thank you. Your steadfast service and generosity inspire us daily.
As we celebrate Christmas and reflect on five years of Wyoming-focused work, our hearts are filled with hope for what lies ahead.
May this season bring you peace, renewal, and the courage to “go and do likewise.”
With appreciation and Christmas blessings,
The Board & Staff of Hughes Charitable Foundation
